This earlier work by Winifred Holtby (South Riding, Anderby Wold) displays al the author’s evolving talent for wry humour, social commentary and acute observation.  Set just after the first world war, it tells the story of Joanna, an orphan who marries Teddy, a dashing army officer who fails to mention his tuberculosis to her.  their subsequent struggle to run a small farm in north Yorkshire is tenderly told and has an uplifting ending.

Dear Mr, Snippet, by Roseanna Rolph, is now available on Audible and other audiobook platforms.

Dear Mr. Snippet is a collection of letters and diary entries from 1939 to 1945 written by and between John and Rita, the author’s grandparents.

John’s voice is narrated by Clive Hayward, while Lucy Scott voices Rita.  The author, Roseanna Rolph, reads an introduction to the book.
